GREY GOO OUTBREAK IN ZiiNEX?

“The Ziinex gray goo outbreak makes one thing perfectly clear: We cannot afford any more accidents with replicating assemblers.”— Chancellor Bibobox.

A nanotechnology laboratory in Ziinex is under investigation by the U.R. Nanotechnology Regulatory officials after a gray goo outbreak in the area on Tuesday (Jun. 12)—the third of this year.

Officials with the Nanotechnology Regulatory Board said yesterday that they are looking into an grey goo outbreak that apparently began in the M. K. Foundation, a research facility funded by Nanotech Corp., and whether the outbreak was caused by an improper release of replibot assembler. “It is very likely that the facility have released the assemblers without following the guidelines of the Nanotech Regulatory Board,” an official commented. The findings of the investigation will determine whether a penalty is warranted, board officials said. The most severe penalty facing the facility is closure and fifty billion dollars.

Ziinex residents were evacuated on Tuesday morning after signs of a gray goo outbreak. Gray Dusting, caused by uncontrolled growth of autonomous airborne replicators, was severe in the Downtown Ziinex. Gray lichens was first spotted at 5 am in the Midtown Artificial Park. The significant land-based nanomass caused by the growth of a maliciously programmed noncarbon epilithic replicator population is proven to be deadly to human beings.

Many are devastated as their homes are devoured by the goo. Ziinex mayor has declared the city was in a state emergency Tuesday morning and required all residents to be evacuated. It caused severe physical disruption of the nearby area. The Emergency Responsive Board has set up temporary shelters for Ziinex residents in the nearby Wanto, Farju and Grida.

The clean up cost of the gray goo outbreak is estimated to be 0.5 trillion dollars. The city suffered an approximate three-trillion lost as a result of the outbreak.
